How To: Start Shopping Smart - Tips 8 - 14

8. Can You Buy it & Fix it?:
Ever see a nice shirt but it's slightly torn, or the strap on this dress is fraying a bit?? They'll usually give you a discount because of this, and if you can fix it or know someone who can, get it fixed and save a few bucks! There's nothing wrong with doing a little work to save a few bucks!
9. Do the Dang Survey:
First and Foremost, read your receipts! Why??? Because on A LOT of your receipts it asks you to do a survey and in return you get a discount code! Sometimes it's the difference between 3-5$ but IT HELPS! You spend so much time with your phone in your hand anyway, so jump on the site and do the survey, it usually takes 5 mins, then you save 5$!
10. Ship For Free:
Shopping online?? Seeing an offer for free shipping?? Utilize it! If it makes more sense if you spend what you a few dollars more to save $14 on shipping, then do that! BUT ONLY if it makes sense financially!!
11. To Upgrade Or Not?:
Sometimes it serves you to spend a little money. When I say this, I'm talking about upgrading. Upgrade your camera, your laptop, your phone and or your wardrobe. If you upgrade your situation and spend a bit of money and know what you're upgrading to will take you farther in the long run. Spend the money. Build a wardrobe with staple pieces KEY to your style and you'll feel less like you need to go shopping as often!
This dress has an unraveling strap and so I got it for $20!
12. Go Halfsies:
Have a sister, friend who shops on the same site but you have to purchase a certain amount to get shipping for free or to utilize a discount code?? SHOP TOGETHER!!! Think about how much you can save if you shop for more than one person!?
Also if you're living with a partner, the fastest way to move up is to work together. Go Halfsies is far and saves you both money!!
13. Know The Sister Stores:
Ever loved a store but found the prices were WAY TOO HIGH!!?! There is often a more affordable store that is a sister store to the higher end store, take note! Or watch for similar items in different stores! What's a sister store? A store with pretty much the same items, smaller selection and lower prices
If you don't see a similarity, look it up! Often these days sister stores can be found by going onto or looking up one store! Shop at the sister store and you can almost always find the item you want for cheaper!
14. Buy One, Get the 2nd:
Ever seen a sale that says, buy one get the 2nd for 40% off?? Sometimes these sales are useful! Is it a selling ploy on the stores part?? YES. But can it save you a couple dollars??? SOMETIMES. If YOU SEE JUST cause in utilizing this sale, then do so!
Otherwise, as I always say....WALK OUT OF THE STORE WITH JUST WANT YOU NEED OR NOTHING AT ALL!!
Well that's it for my tips ladies and gents! My BIGGEST tip of all, do not go out and shop unless your bills are paid. Set up a shopping budget and STICK to it! SPREAD OUT shopping needs. A little at a time will still build up a large wardrobe.
You need to learn to refrain from mindlessly shopping and remember that nothing looks better than a bank account that can keep food in your stomach & a roof over your head. Clothes n the fancy stuff comes over time. Take care of the necessities FIRST EVERY TIME YOU GET PAID!
